Ludwig Von Beethoven was a genius of his time. His music has stood the test of time and is still popular in today's society. Even with this renowned fame, Beethoven still suffered from manic depression, mostly due to his deafness. The only thing that kept him going was his music.

Beethoven was nervous that he would day become deaf, since he would get a strange buzzing sensation in his ears at times. As his hearing decreased, he continued to write his music and became the great composer that he is today. He continued to write more musical pieces, like his concertos, sonatas, an opera, and much more. He, however, could not face many people towards the end of his life. He was ashamed that a composer and musician could be deaf, and that he, in fact, was. He spent most of his times with his closest friends and family. He even considered committing suicide, as stated in his Heiligenstadt Testament.

Even though he was deaf, Beethoven was still a great composer. His legacy has lived on, even as he lost his hearing and eventually passed away. One cannot help but to admire this great leader of classical music, even though he would not himself believe that.

I think you did a great job on talking about Beethoven's disorder. I think you should've added a little more detail on the first paragraph (his background), but besides that, it was great! I'd give you a 97! :)

I love Beethoven. His music is truly amazing! I thought you did a great job explaining his depression, but I do agree with Alice - you could've added a bit more on his background. It's really sad that he couldn't enjoy his music to the fullest when he became deaf. He really had a lot of talent. I'd give you a 97 as well! :D

Beethoven! I knew he was deafish but I never knew he was ashamed about being a composer and being deaf. I like how you presented this, sounds like a voice. His music is quite amazing and I don't think I'll ever understand how a deaf person can compose like he did.

I love Beethoven. Its so strange how some of the greatest artists have such horrible disorders. I guess thats what enables them channel into what makes their work so great.

I'm a big fan of Beethoven. I question whether or not his talent had anything to do with his disorder.

Overall, this entry was good. Good description on Beethoven's disorder and the effect it had on him; I never realized he was so ashamed about his deafness that he considered suicide. It was very informational. However, you could have given more background info on Beethoven.

Its amazing how a deaf composer was able to write such beautiful music. Could have used more commentary on how you felt about the effect of the disorder. But, overall, it was good.

I did not know that Beethoven felt that way about how he was deaf.
